The Organization - Vincentians - Conferences - Central Council

Knowledge of the poor and needy is not gained by pouring over books or in discussion with politicians, but by visiting the homes where they live, sitting by the bedside of the dying, feeling the cold they feel, and learning from their lips the causes of their woes
Blessed Frederic Ozanam (1813-1853)

The Society is a volunteer-driven organization. Its members are organized into small community-based groups called conferences. Generally, they meet in the local Catholic church, but assist the poor and needy in their neighborhoods regardless of the individual's or family's race or religion.

The Central Council provides support services and professional assistance to the Vincentians, administers staffed programs and serves as a liaison between the Vincentians and other divisions of the Society.

Together, the Vincentians and the Central Council provide temporary emergency assistance to people who are in a personal or financial crisis.
