Everyday our trucks hit the road, traveling throughout Long Island to pick up donations from generous supporters. Many items that you may consider discarding could be donated to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and ultimately used to help someone in need.
We help you turn your used furniture, clothing, cars and other donated materials into instruments of hope.
We deliver much needed furniture, clothing, and household items to people who have experienced such dreadful events as a natural disaster, eviction or foreclosure, or in some cases domestic violence. Using donations we receive from our fellow Long Islanders, we help them rebuild their lives.
The main purpose of these donations is to fill the requests of our Vincentian volunteers. After a home visit, volunteers determine the needs of each client and we respond accordingly, supplying whatever basic clothing, furniture, or household needs that exist.
The items that are not given away are placed in our Thrift Stores and priced affordably. The proceeds from these sales enable us to fund our store operation and many other Society of St. Vincent de Paul programs mentioned on this website.
Last year alone our stores distributed more than $450,000 in goods to Long Islanders in need.
